Rev. Julia was called to serve as our 5th Rector on November 1, 2020.

Rev. Julia was born in South Carolina, but has lived in NC, VA, and NH. She jokingly says "She talks fast because of NH and says "y'all" because of her southern roots."

She spent her childhood traveling with her parents and younger brother, and summers at Camp Kanuga.

Julia graduated from Mary Baldwin University and then matriculated to Virginia Theological Seminary. She graduated and was ordained in the Diocese of Southern Virginia in 2010.

Rev. Julia has served as the Associate Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal in Virginia Beach from 2010-2015, and then as the Associate Rector at Eastern Shore Chapel in Virginia Beach from 2015-2020.

She is an avid reader, lover of sports, and is trying to master not burning water in her free time.

A native of Norfolk, The Rev. Dr. Stanley W. Sawyer grew up at the Church of the Ascension. He has earned degrees from Randolph-Macon College, the Virginia Theological Seminary, and the Graduate Theological Foundation. Ordained in 1976, he has served his entire ministry in the Diocese of Southern Virginia. Following 5 years as Assistant Rector at Christ & Grace Church, Petersburg, he was called and spent 40 years as Rector of All Saints’ Episcopal in Virginia Beach, from which he retired in May, 2021. During his active ministry, he served on many Diocesan Commissions and Committees, and the wider Church as well. Currently he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Theological Seminary.

Stan and his wife Linda celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2020, and are the parents of two sons and have 4 grandchildren.
