MINISTRIES

Music Ministry

SENIOR CHOIR

St. Aidan's has a vibrant music ministry that includes parishioners of all ages. The Senior Choir provides music for the 10:30 service and practices Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm.

YOUTH MUSICIANS

St. Aidan's is fortunate to have many talented youth musicians who regularly share their gifts through instrumental and vocal offerings on the second Sunday of the month and at special services.

ST. AIDAN'S BELL CHOIR

Our four-octave bell choir is a group of dedicated ringers who practice weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00, and ring in a "joyful noise" once a month on the third Sunday.

For more information about any music ministry, contact Jamie Dougherty, Director of Music.

Community Outreach

HEALING MINISTRY & PASTORAL CARE

The Pastoral Care group at St. Aidan's encompasses the Healing Ministry, Eucharistic Visitors, hospital visits, and meals for those with a recent illness. In the last year, the Healing Ministry team expanded its outreach and not only provides healing prayer every fourth Sunday at the worship service, but those in need of physical, mental or spiritual healing can contact Paggy Fanney for a confidential and personalized session of spiritual healing at the church. To schedule a healing appointment, contact our church secretary, Jenna via email at

secretary@aidanvbva.net or call the church office at 757-340-6459.

For other Pastoral Care needs, contact Connie Williams at conniewilliams@verizon.net or call the church office.

SHAWL MINISTRY

The Shawl Ministry is supported by St. Aidan's "Needle Nuts" craft group that meets weekly on Monday mornings at 9:30 am at the church. They create beautiful prayer shawls for cancer patients and others in need of healing. They also knit baby hats, sweaters and blankets for teen mothers and the Christian Appalachian Project. Another highlight for the parish is their quilt raffle which raises money for various church projects.  They always look forward to adding new members to their group!

SETON YOUTH SHELTERS

St. Aidan's has a long history with Seton Youth Shelters. In 1999 the girls' shelter was built on our property and continues to house girls who are homeless, runaways or for some reason cannot live at home. Seton successfully reunites over 90% of the youth who come through their door with their families. St. Aidan's is dedicated to helping their many programs including the shelter, street outreach van, counseling programs and the mentoring program for children of prisoners.

Labrynth

Labyrinth Walks are occasional events, with guided walks through our labyrinth.

A labyrinth can be used for spiritual, contemplative, and meditation purposes.
Around the labryrinth are the Stations of the Cross, which you are invited to walk during Holy Week.
The labyrinth and Stations are open to the public.

The Boy Scout Troop maintains the area and several Eagle Scouts have updated it.

Joint Ministries

St. Aidan's has been involved in numerous ministries throughout our community. We believe it is important to partner not just with our denomination but all local churches and communites to help bring the Good News of Jesus, to help share resources, and to support eachother whenever possible.

BOARDWALK MINISTRY

Twice a year we join Galilee in a Boardwakl Ministry. This usually happens around Easter and Thanksgiving, and we go to our Boardwalk and offer people a chance to talk and for us to pray with them.

BETHLEHAM WALK

For over a deacade we have joined with the Presbyterian Church in Kings Grant to host our Bethlehem Walk. Together we tell the story of the miraculous birth of Jesus.

MISSION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

For decades we have partner with the Mission of the Holy Spirit in Norfolk to offer eachother support and connection. We have done services together as well as fundraisers, prayed for eachother,  and other outreach projects to support eachother as best as we can.
