Celebrate the Luck O’ the Irish

You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy a festive St. Patrick’s Day dinner. Join St. Aidan’s faith-filled community March 14 at 6 p.m. in the parish hall. Bring your favorite leprechaun, a Celtic dish to share, the beverage of your choice and plan to share in the shenanigans and honor the patron saint of Ireland.

Embracing Emergence Christianity
March 1,8,15, 22, 29 and April 5 5:30 – 7 p.m.

Come examine the changing face of Christianity and culture. Phyllis Tickle surveys 2000 years of Western history noting the great upheavals that occur every 500 years. Come witness the new thing God is doing among us. This is the Jesus road that always leads out of death to resurrection. Reverend Martin Bagay will lead the study.

Threat Preparedness Workshop for Churches 

April 14, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., St. Aidan's, Virginia Beach

The Virginia Fusion Center's SHIELD Program is collaborating with the Faith-Based Information Sharing & Analysis Organization to educate faith-based organizations on the Hostile Events Attack Cycle and challenge them to consider their preparedness and ability to respond to threats. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Aidan's, Virginia Beach. Click here for more info and to register.               Transitional Rector – Rev. Martin John Bagay

The Vestry is pleased to announce the appointment of the Reverend Martin John Bagay as St. Aidan's Interim Rector. Martin has served as an ordained Episcopal priest for 41 years. After graduating from Duquesne University, he attended the Episcopal Divinity School and was ordained in 1978.  After serving in several churches in Ohio, Martin joined the Navy as a chaplain and served in Keflavik, Iceland, aboard the USS Coral Sea; at Naval Station Norfolk; and the Naval Weapon Station, Yorktown. Following his Naval service, he served at Bruton Parish, Williamsburg as an Interim Associate and College Chaplain; as Rector at St. Mary's in Sparta, NJ; as Rector at Saint Mark's, Huntersville, NC; at Christ Chuch, Charlotte, NC, as Interim Associate Rector; and at All Saint's in Warner Robins, Georgia as Rector.    Over the past six years, Martin has taken on the specialized ministry of transitions, serving in Monroe, LA.; Birmingham, Al;Pike Road, Al; and most recently in Pungoteague and Accomac, VA on the Eastern Shore. He has been married to Katie for 30 years. His daughter, Annie (25) graduated from Sewanee. his son, John Bouldin (22) graduated from the University of Georgia; and his daughter, Johanna (19) is currently attending James Madison University. He will be presiding over his first worship service at St. Aidan's, September 22.
